Job Description:

The Assistant Director of Career Network Engagement is a key member of the Alumni Relations Career and Life Design (CLD) team, leading and supporting community building for alumni, parents, and friends of Brown through high-impact digital and volunteer engagement. This role has two primary functions: to serve as the Alumni Relations lead for a tech platform that powers our CLD engagement efforts and other department programs and; to manage a portfolio of CLD programs and relationships that support the growth and sustainability of our career network.

The Assistant Director's efforts help to harness the time, talent, and expertise of Brown's 110,000 alumni in meaningful ways. Reporting to and collaborating closely with the Director of Career and Life Design, the Assistant Director will work on career-related programming with partners in Alumni Relations, Advancement, University stakeholders such as Career Center for Exploration (CCE), and student-focused centers and offices. In addition, the Assistant Director will work with the team's Director and across the Alumni Relations organization as a leader and expert on digital engagement. These engagement programs offer ways for alumni to connect and reconnect with the University, peers, and students to achieve the ultimate goal of providing a positive Brown online experience.

This is a fixed 2-year term position which may be extended based upon available funding.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in a related field such as development, customer relations, career programming or advising, event planning and support, etc..
Required Qualifications
  • Experience developing or managing digital programming is highly desired, such as experience working with customers, and supporting a SaaS product.
  • Experience in communications, advancement, alumni relations, marketing, annual giving, or a comparable role that includes an acknowledged work history showing creative productivity is required.
  • Experience successfully managing customer engagements to completion and customer satisfaction.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Working knowledge of the Windows environment, including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, electronic mail and calendars, mainframe, and internet/html that support high-level fundraising.
  • Administrative experience with job boards and career/networking/mentoring platforms
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a higher education or non-profit setting is highly desired.
  • Ability to link university-wide priorities with engagement opportunities.
  • Strong ability to align technical concepts & features to business needs.

  • Given the nature of the work and the high level of most of the members of the constituency, a high level of integrity, tact, and discretion is required to deal with confidential donor/prospect information.
