The News & Advance has an opening for a copy editor to join our desk in Lynchburg, Va. The ideal candidate should excel in editing local stories, wire copy and photo cutlines; writing headlines; planning news pages on deadline; and proofing pages. The candidate must also be able to communicate clearly and concisely with page designers at the Lee Enterprises Design Center to ensure efficient, high-quality production of pages. InDesign experience is not required, but you should have an eye for good design. Daily newspaper experience is preferred, but entry-level candidates with college experience will be considered.
You must be able to work nights, weekends and holidays. Lynchburg is located in the beautiful foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Central Virginia. It's a college town with a thriving downtown and arts scene, a minor league baseball team, and is one of the best places anywhere to get outdoors for running, hiking, biking, and canoeing.
