Job Description:
The Community College Initiative (CCI) Program Alumni Relations & Communications Coordinator will assist the CCI Program team at NOVA and the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) by managing the development and implementation of CCI alumni programs and activities, maintaining alumni engagement, supporting the ongoing communications efforts for the program, and contributing to the administrative efforts of the CCI Program.
Duties and Tasks:
This position will manage and provide leadership, vision, and innovation for the CCI Program’s communication efforts and alumni programs. This position is a full-time restricted position with the possibility of renewal, contingent on availability of funding.
Alumni Relations & Communications Coordinator will:
- Provide technical and creative writing expertise for internal and external communications efforts in genres including blogs, program reports, social media, and highlight stories.
- Foster on-going alumni engagement through strategic outreach efforts.
- Oversee, design, and implement new and existing alumni programming.
- Manage and create content for all CCI social media platforms.
- Develop and communicate the program brand by cultivating relationships with participants, alumni, host campuses, NOVA, and the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA).
- Support the CCI team develop program materials, events, reports, and other program activities and duties as assigned.
KSA's/Required Qualifications
Required KSAs:
- Excellence in professional correspondence, creative writing, and storytelling
- Excellent writing, editing (photo/video/text), presentation, and communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Intermediate to advanced MS Office skills
- Ability to build rapport with students, alumni, partner colleges, funding agencies, and internal stakeholders
- Attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills
- Knowledgeable about latest trends and best practices for digital content creation and social media use
- Must be willing and able to travel for program-wide events
Minimum Qualifications:
- Immaculate writing abilities.
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Media, Communications, or related field; OR a combination of experience, education and/or training may be substituted
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience writing and/or editing formal reports
- Experience working in higher education, specifically within a community college
- Experience managing and creating content for Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram
- Experience creating visualized data and infographics
- Experience working with diverse communities, college students, international students, and/or youth
- Experience with program design, management, and implementation
- Experience with event planning
- Familiarity with international exchange programs and/or Department of State grants
- Experience writing blog posts and using WordPress
