Ralston College invites applications for two separate, full-time faculty positions (Professor of Philosophy, and Professor of Literature), to begin on or after 1 September 2024. Start dates in 2025 or 2026 may be available by negotiation. While the field for both positions is open, candidates should be able to contribute substantially to the College’s MA in the Humanities program, which runs from classical antiquity to the present.

 

Professors of Philosophy and Literature will be expected to offer seminars and lectures, set and mark assignments and exams, participate in the communal life of the College, maintain active scholarly commitments, and contribute to administrative operations. 

 

Rank: open to early career scholars and more established academics; the initial appointment is for one year, but renewable. Teaching load: six to eight class hours per week during term-time, across three eight-week terms. Salary: highly competitive depending on experience, starting at $90,000.

Candidates should be able to demonstrate excellence in teaching, significant scholarly promise, and a strong commitment to fostering a collegiate community. Candidates should have completed a relevant PhD, and have a good working knowledge of the languages relevant to their fields of expertise.
