The Jazz Institute Resident/Teaching Assistant works with the Skidmore Jazz Institute Assistant Director to help plan and oversee curricular and co-curricular activities associated with the Skidmore Jazz Institute, a two-week renowned summer residential program enrolling approximately 60 young musicians from around the country. This position coordinates with the Institute faculty and administration to ensure the smooth operation of the educational program and provides support for public community events. This position requires living in the dorms, working nights and weekends, and fostering a sense of community among a diverse group of students, many under the age of 18. The position will offer the successful candidate a unique opportunity to serve as part of a team and gain the relevant knowledge, skills, and experience of working with world-renowned artists and educators in an educational setting.

Experience:

The successful candidate will possess strong leadership qualities, good communication and organizational skills, exercise good judgement, have a musical background, and ideally be familiar with Skidmore College and the Saratoga Springs area. Previous experience working with students in a residential environment or arts intensive is desired. Cover letter and excellent references are required. Employment is contingent upon the acceptable results of a pre-employment background check.

This is a temporary, full-time position from June 27 – July 13, 2024; remuneration is $2,052 plus on-campus room and board.
