Position Summary Information
Position Summary
Reporting to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs and serving as a member of Provost's Council and the Academic Affairs leadership team, the Associate Provost for Academic Innovation (APAI) has primary responsibility for providing leadership and vision to the Academic Affairs division in the development of innovative new programs (such as certificates and professional development credentials) and in the implementation of innovative pedagogies and curriculum. This position will involve significant interaction with external stakeholders, particularly industry and state and local governments. TheAPAIrepresents Academic Affairs on appropriate committees and activities with the colleges, other University offices, the State System, and various external organizations and government areas within the scope of related Academic Affairs financial management and planning responsibilities.
The units and programs under the leadership of the APAl include Assessment and Accreditation and the Center for Teaching and Learning. TheAPAIexercises judgment and discretion in reference to university matters and must be able to represent the office and university with internal and external constituencies including the industry partners,PASSHE, Federal, regional, and local government agencies, accrediting and professional associations, and others as appropriate. TheAPAImust demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of labor market analysis, program development, assessment, and accreditation, and academic budgeting.
Minimum Qualifications
Doctorate from an accredited institution
Five years of higher education administrative experience
Ability to function independently
Demonstrated expertise in curricular and instructional design
Ability to work collaboratively and productively with administrators, faculty, and staff.
A commitment to promoting diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging
Successful performance in an on-campus interview, including a presentation
Ability to develop innovative degree and nondegree programs, certificates, and credentials, including continuing education and distance learning
Ability to develop and manage relationships between academic and external partners
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated Experience improving and implementing inclusive pedagogies and curriculum for distance education
Experience developing innovative degree programs certificates and credentials
Experience developing industry partnerships, relationships with government agencies and non-profit organizations
Experience with developing and overseeing Continuing Education Programs
Experience with oversight of Instructional Design and Professional Development
Experience with Accreditation and Assessment
