Job Description:


SUNY Schenectady County Community College is seeking a full-time Dean of Business and Professional Programs. Reporting to the Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Dean of Business and Professional Programs, is responsible for the management of the division. This reimagined position represents a new configuration of divisional faculty and aligns with the College's academic plans and strategic goals for student success. The Dean supervises and evaluates faculty and staff and oversees the administration of bargaining agreements and personnel administration regarding faculty within the areas of their responsibility. The Dean is expected to lead the division's efforts in developing and refining curricula and all areas of assessment including, but not limited to, program and course level assessment scheduling and completion. This position is an integral part of the Academic Affairs' leadership team and will participate in strategic planning and formulation of policies within academic affairs. Supervisory responsibilities required in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training; planning and assigning projects/tasks; and appraising performance.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Serves as a member of the enrollment leadership team
  • Assist the Division of Academic Affairs in formulating policies
  • Recruit and supervise full-time and adjunct faculty and program leaders
  • Maintain and develop plans for faculty professional development including the implementation and updating of annual faculty development activities
  • Coordinate and implement orientation for full-time and adjunct faculty
  • Conduct and manage divisional and smaller program meetings
  • Collaborate and plan with other division deans as well as areas across the College to support student enrollment and retention
  • Lead and coordinate assignment of staff to participate in mandatory departmental activities to include program reviews, course outline updates, program updates and assessment activities and the coordination of faculty participation in college committees
  • Schedule all division courses including day/evening/weekend courses, coordinating the use of facilities, and planning and coordination of all credit programming including off-site activities under the direction of the VPAA
  • Maintain and oversee articulation agreements
  • Plan and collaborate with College in the High School program staff
  • Participate in student orientation, open houses, and information nights
  • Oversee and manage adherence to all areas of the Academic Code and all areas of College policies within the division
  • Develop and maintain annual division budget including analyses and recommendations to ensure the cost effectiveness of program and course section offerings
  • Participate in strategic planning and ensure the implementation of any associated initiatives involving the division and Academic Affairs Lead in planning for facilities, equipment and staffing needs based on strategic planning initiatives
  • Lead and coordinate assignment division faculty and staff participation in mandatory departmental activities (e.g., program reviews, curricular refinement and development, and assessment activities, program accreditation), complete and manage analyses of division programs and staffing needs
  • Serve as the Evening Administrator in Charge at least one week per semester. Open to and able to work day, and occasional evening and weekends.
  • Collaborate on college-wide publications promoting divisional activities
  • Coordinate all divisional advisory committees
  • Oversee and work closely with the Director of Career Services
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:


Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in, or related to, a discipline taught in the division (Business, Marketing, Accounting, Law, Criminal Justice, Early Childhood Education, Aviation)
  • 3 years of combined supervisory and administrative experience.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and managing a budget
  • Advanced knowledge in academic assessment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A demonstrated understanding and commitment to the community college philosophy
  • Demonstrated management skills and ability
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Doctorate Degree

Salary: $76,000
