Job Summary
The College of Agriculture Food and Environment, department of Forestry and Natural Resources seeks a Forestry Research Assistant. The Forestry Research Assistant will work closely with Green Forest Works staff and other project partners to manage current planting projects, secure additional partners to expand reforestation opportunities on mine lands, and work with private landowners, coal operators, state and federal agencies, conservation/environmental groups, and other partners on the planning, design and implementation of projects. Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
Experience with geographic information systems ( GIS/ GPS) and mapping (e.g. ArcGIS) is preferred.

Preferred Education/Experience
The preferred candidate will have experience working on restoration or reforestation projects, and working with diverse partners such as energy companies, state and federal agencies and non-profit organizations. Position will require frequent overnight travel, extensive work in the field, and the development of numerous professional contacts. BA + 1 year experience preferred.
