Physical Requirements

This position requires regularly standing or walking with objects weighing up to 25 pounds; lifting, pushing, and/or pulling objects weighing up to or over 50 pounds; and working at heights above four feet; intermittently performing tasks with repetitive motions; and occasionally working in confined spaces. Also involves some exposure to risk of injury from moving, lifting, or positioning patients, equipment, or materials, and exposure to loud noises, temperature extremes, hazardous chemicals and fumes including waste, radiation, cuts/punctures, blood-borne or airborne pathogens, and combative/violent people.

Shift

Must be able to work three, 12-hour, 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. day shifts per week (shifts may include days, evenings, nights, and/or swing). Will also be required to work some weekends and holidays.

Job Summary

The Paramedic will work in the Level 1 Trauma Center to compliment the nursing role. Duties of this position include performing patient care duties utilizing a team approach in collaboration with RNs, MDs, and other members of the comprehensive healthcare team; and organizing, prioritizing, and delivering direct patient care based on determined scope of practice within the hospital setting.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

The ideal candidate will have clinical care experience, including but not limited to: monitoring vital signs; inserting IVs, NGTs, and urinary catheters; assisting with 12 lead EKGs; assisting with wound care; assisting with suctioning; and completing proper documentation.

Preferred Education/Experience

High school diploma or GED and three years of paramedic experience, and current Kentucky Paramedic certification or licensure, American Heart Association ( BLS), ACLS, and PALS certifications preferred.
