Deadline: Oct 31, 2025 at 11:59 PM Eastern Time

The Division of Infectious Diseases in the Department of Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for several Assistant Professor positions in the non-tenure clinician educator track. Expertise is required in the specific area of HIV. Applicants must have an M.D or M.D./Ph.D. degree. Applicants should be board certified or board eligible in Infectious Diseases.

Teaching responsibilities may include teaching Infectious Diseases fellows, residents and medical students.

Clinical responsibilities may include inpatient weeks at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and/or the Philadelphia VA Medical Center (PVAMC) as well as outpatient sessions at the Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine and/or PVAMC.

Research or scholarship responsibilities may include designing and implementing observational and interventional studies focused on the identification, treatment, and prevention of HIV in vulnerable populations. Scholarship is required in the clinician-educator track.

The major focus of this position is to further develop the Infectious Diseases Division's research program focused on HIV. Therefore, skills and experience in clinical research are highly desirable. An emphasis on developing and implementing studies of HIV screening strategies as well as prevention and treatment of HIV in vulnerable populations are of particular interest. We anticipate selected candidates will pursue independent funding to support patient-oriented research focused on these scientific areas. Selected candidates may also have the opportunity to assume a modest administrative role in developing associated clinical programs in the ID Division at Penn. As such, training and experience in program administration focused on HIV in a variety of settings across the healthcare continuum is desirable.

Selected candidates will have demonstrated excellent qualifications in education, research, and clinical care. Advanced training in epidemiologic research methods is also highly desirable.

We seek candidates who embrace and reflect diversity in the broadest sense. The University of Pennsylvania is an EOE. Minorities/women/individuals with disabilities/protected veterans are encouraged to apply.
