Post Doctoral Associate- Dr. Rebecca Seal's Lab
Med-Neurobiology - Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh - (23003262)

The Department of Neurobiology at the University of Pittsburgh invites applications for a highly motivated Senior Postdoctoral Research Fellow to apply proteomics and in vivo imaging approaches to the analysis of motivational and arousal circuitry in mice under normal conditions and in disease.

The successful candidate is expected to take a supporting role in supervising ongoing research projects and develop independent projects focused on central circuits for arousal, movement, and motivation. This will include identifying and characterizing neural circuits underlying circadian-dependent arousal using circuit tracing and DREADDs as well as in vivo calcium imaging. The candidate will also be responsible for identifying the molecular mechanisms underlying corticostriatal plasticity of direct pathway spiny projection neurons using proteomics, in vivo viral targeting of proteins, and behavior.

S/he will regularly interact with the growing community of neuroscience researchers at both Pitt and Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) including researchers affiliated with organizations such as the Center for Neuroscience at the University of Pittsburgh (CNUP) and the Center for the Neural Basis of Cognition (CNBC). Postdocs can thus interact with numerous labs sharing similar research interests, and participate in neuroscience seminars, retreats, etc.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Neuroscience or a relevant field. Applicants must have demonstrated skills in proteomics or in vivo calcium imaging and data analysis. Experience with Python, R, or MS Stats and a publication record in studies of the central nervous system of mammals preferred. Candidates must be a US citizens, permanent US resident, or possess a US working permit.

Interested candidates should attach a brief statement of research interests and CV to requisition #23003262.
