To help advance this mission, we are seeking a distinguished applicant to participate in an Academic Instructional Fellowship with a faculty position at the rank of Instructor of Clinical Pharmacy.

The Academic Instructional Fellowship at The University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy is a 12-month (August 1, 2024 through July 31, 2025) mentored training program for pharmacists with a strong interest in pursuing careers in pharmacy education. The program will provide extensive experiences in classroom and experiential teaching, educational research, and service. The program aims to equip the fellow with the skills necessary to be successful as a pharmacy educator, as well as to foster teaching innovation to advance pharmacy education and practice.

Primary responsibilities include teaching in the professional pharmacy program (required and elective), mentoring PharmD students, committee service, and performing innovative educational research and scholarship. The fellow will participate in writing working groups, develop an independent research project, and present a research poster at a national meeting. To ensure a well-rounded experience, in addition to shadowing and mentorship from other faculty, the fellow will also spend time with the administrative teams in experiential education, academic affairs, student affairs, business affairs, and development. The schedule of the fellowship year will be customized based on the fellow's areas of interest as well as the administrative needs of the college.

Additionally, the College of Pharmacy operates longstanding and well-developed graduate training programs in pharmaceutical sciences and translational sciences supporting over 90 Masters and PhD students. The goal of graduate study at the College of Pharmacy is to develop the intellectual breadth and specialized training necessary for a career in teaching, research, or advanced professional practice.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates must have an earned Pharm.D. and completed a PGY-1 residency or equivalent practice experience. Applicants should be eligible for pharmacist licensure in Texas. Successful candidates will hold a faculty title of Instructor in Clinical Pharmacy, while in training.
